If you live in Kalyvia Thorikou, Lagonisi or elsewhere in the Saronikos area and are comparing kindergartens, you are probably looking for a school that is warm, well organized and serious about preparing your child for primary school. Agapeland has been welcoming children from 2.5 to 6 years old since 1992, in Koropi, on the same Mesogeia plain as Kalyvia.
Agapeland is a small private preschool and kindergarten where the whole day runs in English: stories, songs, story time and free play. Children learn through play and exploration, with a big garden, a sports court and a few furry and feathered friends on the grounds.
Why families from Kalyvia choose Agapeland
A small school where every child is known. Agapeland is a boutique school with around 25 to 30 children. Teachers and staff know each child and each family personally.
An international community. At times the school has more than 20 nationalities among its children. Children hear different languages and accents every day, make friends from around the world and learn to respect each other’s differences. It suits families who have recently moved to Greece as well as Greek families who want their children to feel confident in English.
A real school day. With early drop-off and a full-day option, the schedule works for parents with long working days.
Strong preparation for primary school. Kindergarten graduates move on to Greek, English or international primary schools with the skills and confidence they need.
Programs by age
Cocoons (2.5 to 3.5 years). A gentle first step into learning and play, where the youngest children settle in and make their first friends.
Caterpillars (3.5 to 4.5 years). The Explorers program builds independence and fine motor skills. Children learn to draw inside the lines, trace letters and numbers, and cut with care. Learning goals include letter sounds and phonics, reading and writing their own name, counting to 100 by 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s, and the days of the week and months of the year.
Kindergarten, the Butterflies (5 to 6 years). The last year at Agapeland is about mastering skills. Children develop reading and writing, penmanship, multi-syllable words, math and problem solving, along with art, music, sport and social skills. They become caring, cooperative and independent, ready for first grade.
Ready for primary school, wherever you choose
Some families plan a Greek primary school and others an English-speaking or international one. Agapeland has separate kindergarten preparation groups for both:
- Preparation in Greek, for Greek primary schools.
- Preparation in English, for English-speaking and international primary schools.
Greek holidays, cultural lessons and experiences, such as the 25th of March celebration in the school auditorium, are part of the year too.
A day full of activity
- Sports: a multipurpose sports court and a large indoor auditorium for gym, dance and celebrations. Weekly tennis and dance for everyone, and basketball, volleyball and badminton in kindergarten.
- Swimming: daily swimming sessions in the summer.
- Animals and garden: bunnies, birds and ducks share the grounds, and children play in the garden regularly.
- Arts and music: painting, drawing, collage, mosaic, singing, rhythm and performances. Private music lessons are available.
- Cooking: kindergarten children help prepare the school lunch and learn about healthy food and kitchen safety.
- Field trips and celebrations: holiday celebrations and outings throughout the year.
- Counseling support: a dedicated counseling service so that every child thrives.
